Northern Portuguese beaches

The coast is quite flat with long, soft, white sandy beaches, dunes and lagoons. The beaches are not very swimming-friendly because the sea is rough and very cold. And they tend to shelve steeply, making lengthy beach walking hard on one side or the other. So we have spent more of our time in the far-from-flat cities and towns a bit inland.

However, this photo of Praia da Tocha shows how lovely the beaches can be…. Here the fishermen launch their boats off the beach with the help of tractors. (We saw the same in Normandy.)
