Picos de Europa and some sea cliffs

We took a few days inland in the mountains partly to get away from the beach crowds and to find accommodation more easily. We had gorgeous clear weather the afternoon we arrived at Fuente Dé, where the road stops. We could have taken the cable car up the next 800 metres but didn’t because there was a huge queue. We could have walked but it was too late in the day and too hot.

We didn’t get another chance because the weather closed in. We did manage a couple of short circular walks below the low cloud level and could at least imagine the dramatic scenery even if we could only see the bottom half of it. This was taken at the start of one of them at Brez, a short-but-nice circular “childrens’ walk” PR-PNPE-27.

Back at the coast – which is really very close to the mountains in Asturias – the weather is improving, and it was great to walk on limestone clifftops above pounding sea again, reminding me of early parts of our trip. These two pictures are taken from the same spot.
