A Travellerspoint blog

The plan

Progress so far

The aim is to make a slow road trip around (much of) the Atlantic coast of Europe. After many years of meticulous advance planning of holidays as breaks from work the idea of this trip is to explore a different way of travelling – without a plan except an approximate route and time-scale. We are travelling from North to South, starting in Shetland, taking in the West coasts of Scotland, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal. We are interpreting “Atlantic coast” broadly and will miss bits out, as the fancy takes us.

We set off on 24th April and expect to return by mid-October, but we might be quicker or slower or decide to go home before we reach the end: the Mediterranean.

The first part of our trip, in Scotland and Ireland, is completed and is documented in 12 posts here: https://gat2019.blogspot.com/ You can also find out more about the plan as a whole by looking at the first couple of posts. The route we took is also included in the map above.
I have not found this blogspot (google) software easy to use or adaptable enough and so, for the second part of the trip through France, Spain and Portugal I am trying Travellerspoint.
Please comment and let me know what you think about the new setup as well as the content!

To start, and mainly as a test, here is a photo from one of our last evenings in Ireland, from Inish Beg in Co. Cork.
